What’s Happening

TCC’S LITTLE FREE PANTRY AND LITTLE FREE LIBRARYThis summer, our graduating Pre-K families joined together and raised $1800 to create TCC’s Little Free Pantry and Little Free Library for our TCC community and the surrounding neighborhood! We will also be using the pantry and library as a teaching tool to help our children learn about the value of community service and how we can share our resources with other and individuals and families in need. Please help us spread the word and stop by if you are in need of any food items or books. We are currently in need of the following items if you would like to contribute:· Children’s board books (ages 0-3) · Canned meats, beans, nut butters, and macaroni and cheese · Pasta, rice, other dried grains, and dried beans · Canned beans, fruit, and vegetables, condiments · Kid snacks (individually wrapped), baby food, formula · Gluten, dairy, nut, and other allergen-free items · Small toiletries, hygiene items, canned pet food

TCC SHARES THE LOVE

In a year filled with temperature checks, health screenings, mask-wearing, and constant sanitizing, our wonderful teachers and staff have risen to the challenge. They’ve worked tirelessly to fill the year with Zoom story time, cooking and music classes, weekly take-home art inspiration bags for family fun at home, letter writing to friends, and lots and lots of laughs. We never want another year like this, but we can also say we’ve never been more proud of our TCC community. We got this Seattle. And we got this TCC!

WE RENOVATED OUR KITCHENAfter several decades and serving hundreds of thousands of meals and snacks to our children, our well-loved kitchen was definitely showing signs of heavy use! As a result, we applied for and received a Washington State Department of Commerce grant to update our kitchen facilities. We replaced all of our lower cabinets and countertops with stainless steel workstations, added four new sinks, a commercial-grade dishwasher and microwave, and replaced the flooring in the kitchen and pantry.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR GRADUATES

Everything looked a little different in 2020, but we were still thrilled to celebrate the graduation of 10 amazing kids in June. It’s always bittersweet to see kids leave TCC, but we couldn’t be more proud of their accomplishments and of having them as a part of our TCC family!

FULL S.T.E.A.M. AHEAD: TCC’s SCIENCE NIGHT

In February, TCC hosted a S.T.E.A.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) powered Science Night. We provided science-themed refreshments in the Community Room, and each of the classrooms was set up with science activities for parents and family members to work on with the children. There was also a selfie photo station and take-home activities for families to enjoy together at home. During the event, we also celebrated Teacher Yordanka’s 20th anniversary with TCC. Please join us in congratulating her on her incredible accomplishment!
